SUMMARY:Monotype Printing with Natural Materials
DESCRIPTION:Register here \nThis workshop is a part of the Milwaukee Domes Alliance adult workshop series. \nMonotype Printing with Natural Materials with Barbara Manger \nWorking on an etching press using luminous oil-based inks\, participants will learn both simple\, complex\, and spontaneous monotype techniques. Dried natural materials and other stencil materials are the starting point for creating at least five beautiful and unique prints. \nThis simple printmaking process offers the experienced artist and beginning artist alike an alternative to technical and laborious printmaking methods. The process provides a means for immediate expression\, exploration\, and gratification. This approach becomes complex and engaging. Found natural dried materials or any flat materials are laid on a plexiglass plate rolled with printer’s ink. Dampened paper is placed over these and then rolled through an etching press to transfer the ink onto the paper. Several runs through the press produce rich color and spatial complexity.
