DESCRIPTION:This workshop is a part of the Milwaukee Domes Alliance adult workshop series. \nRegister here \nThe Mitchell Park Wellness Collective invites you to join yoga instructor Mariyam in the Show Dome for a gentle yoga flow followed by a sound bath. \nSound baths are a deeply immersive method of relaxation and meditation\, utilizing various instruments including singing bowls\, chimes\, tuning forks\, and gongs for a full body and dreamlike listening experience. \nAll levels are welcome. Dress comfortably – the Show Dome may be warm or chilly depending on that day’s weather. SUMMARY:Growing and Thriving Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Register here \nIn this program\, participants will experience programming that will engage their senses with the beauty of plants and nostalgia of The Domes. The participant and their guest will learn about and explore the history of The Domes and its world-class plant collection as well as acquire new skills in plant husbandry and propagation. During the workshop\, all attendees will choose a plant from the gift shop\, repot their new plant\, and take it home with instructions for care. Interpretive Educator\, Pete Stobie\, will teach houseplant skills related to watering and humidity\, choosing soil\, repotting\, light requirements\, and more. \nInteractive workshop includes: Domes History and houseplant care. Participants will also take a tour of either the Tropical Dome OR the Show Dome. \nThe Growing and Thriving Program is generously funded by Bader Philanthropies. \nLocation: Mitchell Park Domes Education Center \nCost: Free for Milwaukee-area residents who are 60 or older plus one guest (pre-registration is required). If you are bringing a guest\, please be sure to register for that person when you register for yourself. DESCRIPTION:Register here \nThis workshop is a part of the Milwaukee Domes Alliance adult workshop series. \nMonotype Printing with Natural Materials with Barbara Manger \nWorking on an etching press using luminous oil-based inks\, participants will learn both simple\, complex\, and spontaneous monotype techniques. Dried natural materials and other stencil materials are the starting point for creating at least five beautiful and unique prints. \nThis simple printmaking process offers the experienced artist and beginning artist alike an alternative to technical and laborious printmaking methods. The process provides a means for immediate expression\, exploration\, and gratification. This approach becomes complex and engaging. Found natural dried materials or any flat materials are laid on a plexiglass plate rolled with printer’s ink. Dampened paper is placed over these and then rolled through an etching press to transfer the ink onto the paper. Several runs through the press produce rich color and spatial complexity. SUMMARY:Growing and Thriving Workshop- Bilingual (Spanish/ English)
DESCRIPTION:Registration link coming soon \nIn this program\, participants will experience programming that will engage their senses with the beauty of plants and nostalgia of The Domes. The participant and their guest will learn about and explore the history of The Domes and its world-class plant collection as well as acquire new skills in plant husbandry and propagation. During the workshop\, all attendees will choose a plant from the gift shop\, repot their new plant\, and take it home with instructions for care. Interpretive Educator\, Pete Stobie\, will teach houseplant skills related to watering and humidity\, choosing soil\, repotting\, light requirements\, and more. \nInteractive workshop includes: Domes History and houseplant care. Participants will also take a tour of either the Tropical Dome OR the Show Dome. \nThe Growing and Thriving Program is generously funded by Bader Philanthropies. \nLocation: Mitchell Park Domes Education Center \nCost: Free for Milwaukee-area residents who are 60 or older plus one guest (pre-registration is required). If you are bringing a guest\, please be sure to register for that person when you register for yourself. Participants should not attend more than one Growing and Thriving program per calendar year. \nFOD Media/Photo Release Policy: Photos and other media taken during the class may be used for marketing purposes.
