DESCRIPTION:In this program\, participants will experience programming that will engage their senses with the beauty of plants and nostalgia of The Domes. The participant\, their caregiver/guest will learn about and explore the history of The Domes and its world-class plant collection as well as acquire new skills in plant husbandry and propagation. During the workshop\, all attendees will choose a plant from the gift shop\, repot their new plant\, and take it home with instructions for care. Interpretive Educator\, Pete Stobie\, will teach houseplant skills related to watering and humidity\, choosing soil\, repotting\, light requirements\, and more. \nInteractive workshop includes: Domes History and houseplant care. \nResearch indicates that caring for plants results in brain stimulation that can benefit people who have age-related cognitive decline. DESCRIPTION:The Mitchell Park Domes is pleased to celebrate the 2024 Milwaukee Museum Days\, January 18-28\, 2024\, with the following special activities. \n1) January 18 & 25: Discounted $5.00 general admissions for all visitors \nSpecial late night hours on January 25th- open until 8pm with light shows at 5\, 6\, 7\, and 7:30! (Last admission one hour before close!) \n2) Special guided tours with admissions (tours are included with admission price): \n\n\n\nJanuary 18\, 19\, 25 and 26 at 1:00PM\nJanuary 20 and 27 at 11AM\nThursday tour theme: A safari through the Tropical Dome\nFriday tour theme: The Desert Dome: A trip around the deserts of the world\nSaturday tour theme: The Show Dome and how it’s reimagined for themed shows\n\n\n\n3) All kids who visit the Ed Center during Museum Days will receive a free packet of seeds. \n4) All NEW memberships purchased at The Domes (including gift memberships) will receive a free $10 gift shop gift certificate (good for a future visit). \n5) Bilingual Storytime at The Domes will take place Wed\, Jan 24\, 2024\, at 10AM.
