Educator Guided Field Trips

This page includes information for groups attending educator-led programming at the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (The Domes), as well as information on virtual field trip options.

Our youth field trips are perfect for schools, scout groups, after-school programs, home school programs, child-care centers, nonprofits, and any group that serves youth and adolescents. The field trips are available in-person or virtually (both pre-recorded and live). All field trips are led by an interpretive educator and meet Wisconsin Academic Standards for Science and Health, Grades K-12th.

“My high school students are learning about becoming educators themselves one day. After hearing about The Domes in the news, my students felt strongly about visiting. The Friends of the Domes program did not disappoint. They were organized and punctual and full of fun information to engage my high schoolers. I personally enjoyed learning about the history of The Domes. I learn something new and make new discoveries every time I visit!” — School Field Trip Organizer

“My students absolutely LOVED Mr. Pete! He was so incredibly knowledgeable, fun, and engaging for my first graders. He made them laugh with silly hand motions while teaching them all about pollinators. They had a blast and many of them said it was one of their favorite field trips we took this year!” — School Field Trip Organizer

We offer two field trip options:

For self-guided tours (youth or adults) or group admission call (414) 257-5600.

In-Person Field Trips

Nothing beats The Domes in terms of a unique and memorable field trip experience. Many of our current members have expressed that their love of plants and nature started many years ago when they took their first field trip to The Domes. Our field trips are led by Mr. Pete, an award-winning interpretive educator who will help the students learn valuable lessons in a fun and interactive atmosphere.

Virtual Field Trips

Through our virtual field trips, your class or group will have the opportunity to travel virtually to The Domes. Our award-winning lead interpretive educator, Mr. Pete, with his seemingly never ending supply of props, songs, stories, and puppet pals, digs into a large variety of science topics.
