Programs for Older Adults and Adults Living with Memory Loss
Come learn, create and connect under glass. The Domes offers welcoming programs for older adults, adults living with memory loss, and the family members, friends and care partners who join them. Explore each experience below to find the one that’s right for you.
SPARK! at the Domes
Creative moments. Shared joy. Connection in the present.
SPARK! at the Domes is a free creative engagement program for adults with early- to mid-stage memory loss and the care partners who attend with them. Together, you’ll explore art, music, movement, stories and nature in the welcoming setting of the Mitchell Park Domes.
SPARK! does not rely on memory recall. Instead, each session focuses on what you notice, feel and create together. There are no tests, no judgment and no pressure to perform—just space for conversation, laughter, curiosity and meaningful connection in the moment.
What to expect
Every 90-minute session brings a new theme and experience, often inspired by the plants, seasons and exhibitions at the Domes.
You might:
- Create art alongside a local artist
- Explore music, dance or gentle movement
- Arrange flowers or paint from nature
- Discover tropical plants, fruits and flavors
- Enjoy storytelling, poetry or imaginative play
- Meet guest artists, performers, gardeners and other community experts
Sessions typically include time inside one of the Domes, allowing participants and care partners to experience the plants and environment together.
No artistic, musical or gardening experience is needed. Activities can be adapted for different comfort and mobility levels, and care partners participate side by side throughout the experience.
Who is SPARK! for?
SPARK! is designed for an adult experiencing early- to mid-stage memory loss and a family member, friend or caregiver who serves as their care partner. Participants and care partners attend and take part together.
You may join us for one session or return throughout the year. Every program offers a different theme and activity.
