Domes Reopen With Member Only Days!

The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory will reopen to the public on Saturday September 26. We are excited to announce that it will open early for Members Only on September 23, 24 and 25.  Reservations are required.  

Here's what you need to know:

  • All visitors including members must make a reservation. (The link will go live on Sept. 16)
  • Member admission is free, but you must enter your Membership ID (located on your membership card) when making a reservation.
  • All membership expiration dates have been updated to extend your membership for the time of the Domes closure.  If you haven’t received your new card, the updated date  
  • will be reflected as your card is scanned when visiting the Domes.
  • Masks are required to be worn by all visitors.
  • Please observe one way directional flow through the Domes and 6 ft. social distance markers.
  • You MUST have your membership card with you to enter as a member.  
  • Thank you for your patience and continued support during this very challenging time!


As a Friend of the Domes, you will become part of the team, made up of individuals from every walk of life, reaping the reward giving back to community truly provides. You will be helping to support educational programs and projects of all kinds at the Domes.

  • Membership in the American Horticultural Society Reciprocal Admissions Program - a network of membership gardens throughout the nation which gives members access to other botanical gardens, arboreta and conservatories by offering special admission privileges and other benefits. Be a Friend

The Friends of the Domes ("FOD") is a non-profit support group for The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, also known as "The Domes." We directly channel resources that make possible many of the educational, scientific and cultural programs held at this very special and unique community landmark. Our support complements, but is separate from, the support provided by Milwaukee County.

FOD Mission
The Friends of the Domes mission is to promote and support the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (the "Domes") and surrounding park by creating and enhancing the visitor experience of this globally significant urban destination.

FOD Vision
By sharing our appreciation and understanding of habitats that sustain our world, we foster an envvironment where everyone can experence unqique worldwide plant collections in a natural setting.

Friend Support

Friends of the Domes' support includes:

  • Providing Domes education to students, families, and adults.
  • Funding new plant acquisitions
  • Facility enhancement such as building the education center and purchasing lobby furnishings.
  • Staffing special Domes-sponsored events.
  • Funding education-related expenses for the Conservatory staff.
